As the Executive Sous Chef you are the second-in-command in the kitchen and you act as the right hand of the Executive Chef. This role is responsible for overseeing daily kitchen operations, managing kitchen staff, ensuring the highest standards of food quality and safety, and driving culinary innovation. The Executive Sous Chef plays a key leadership role

in menu development, staff training, and maintaining a positive, productive kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities

Culinary Leadership & Operations

  • Support the Executive Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations across multiple food & beverage outlets

  • Maintain consistently high culinary standards, ensuring food quality, presentation, and flavor profiles align with Kimpton’s brand identity

  • Lead by example on the kitchen floor, maintaining discipline, creativity, and operational excellence

  • Be flexible to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays

Menu Development & Commercial Performance

  • Contribute to menu development, concepting, and seasonal innovation

  • Understand and actively manage menu engineering, food costs, and profit & loss performance

  • Commercially maximize multiple F&B outlets while maintaining high service and quality standards

Team Leadership & Communication

  • Act as a strong, approachable leader for the kitchen team

  • Communicate clearly, positively, and consistently with team members and cross-departmental partners

  • Coach, train, and motivate the team to grow skills, confidence, and ownership

  • Listen actively and foster an inclusive, respectful kitchen culture

Compliance, Safety & Systems

  • Ensure full compliance with local food safety laws, HACCP standards, and internal policies

  • Maintain accurate administration using systems such as Microsoft Office, POS systems, Opera, BirchStreet, and department-specific tools

  • Ensure proper stock control, ordering, and inventory management

Job Requirements

Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a comparable high-volume, quality-driven culinary environment

  • Strong understanding of kitchen operations within a hotel or multi-outlet F&B setting

  • Physically capable of working full shifts on the kitchen floor

  • Passion for food, ingredients, techniques, and evolving flavor profiles
